Swinging in the Summertime

I was going to post a quick video of Naomi enjoying her first experience in the big swing, but it does not seem to be working. I'll try again later. So here are a few pictures instead.

We took her to the park near our hotel this morning. She really enjoyed the swing, although she got scared when the swing went to high. I can't get enough of her cute laugh!

Penticton

Greetings from sunny Penticton! We arrived safely yesterday afternoon after a long drive. The trip that should usually take about 3 1/2 hours took us over 5. I guess that's what happens when you travel with a little baby. We left Abbotsford around 9:15, stopped in Manning and Princeton, and arrived in Penticton at 2:30. Naomi did good on the drive and slept most of the way. After we settled in, Ron headed out to get some groceries, while I unpacked and got our room prepared for our stay.
We had chicken and rice for dinner. Thanks Xian and Vic! After dinner we walked along the water and went to the outdoor "night fair" at the park. It was great fun. The vendors were selling everything! Including hot sauce, carpets, carvings, baked goods, and even pasta in cool shapes. One vendor was selling beautiful jewelry from Fiji. There was one necklace that I really liked. It was a flower carved from mother of pearl. We kept walking through the stalls and seeing was else was for sale. Just as we were preparing to walk home, Ron handed me a small box. Inside was the necklace that I had admired. He went back and bought it for me. I love it!
This vendor offer to let us taste his hottest hot sauce. Ron volunteered to taste it, and claims that it was not that hot but his face said otherwise.

Today has been a good day so far. Naomi was up 3 times at night to eat so we slept in until 10:30. After a leisurely morning, which included a bath for Naomi, we got ourselves ready and headed for the pool. Naomi really enjoyed the water. She likes to splash and watch the other kids in the pool.
We bought this life jacket for her at Walmart and we finally had a chance to try it out. Naomi liked floating on her back the best.

After about an hour we went back to the hotel room and put Naomi down for a nap. Our room gets wireless Internet so I took the chance to blog about our trip so far. I will try to post again soon, but for now I am off to have more fun :)

5 Months

We took Naomi to the park and decided to take a few nice pictures to mark her five month birthday.
She is sitting all alone for a few minutes.
When I put her down on her back she is always rolling over onto her stomach.

Naomi is putting everything in her mouth... her fingers, toys, paper, blankets, my fingers, even my chin when she gets close enough. She is definatly teething. She has been SO miserable the last few days. Nothing I do seems to help her with the pain. I put Baby Oragel on her gums and that seem to work for a few minutes, but I don't want to use it every time. I tried a frozen washcloth, but she just sucks out all the water and then cries again. The teething rings just make her more upset. I feel so helpless when she is crying and I know that she is in pain. I wish I could take the pain for her so that she can feel better. Any suggestions on what else I could try?
I can't believe that Naomi is already 5 months old! I had a chance to hold a newborn baby girl this past week. She is so small, when I looked at her I could hardly remember when Naomi used to be that small. Our little girl is growing up so fast, but we are loving every minute.

Update

It has been far too long since I last blogged. Sorry to all those who check this blog regularly. By the way... who are you? Please leave a comment so that I know that someone is reading my rambling thoughts.
We have had a wonderful summer. It has been strange being at home when I am used to working hard all summer to pay for my next year at school. I must say that I am very happy not be getting reading for school this September. It is a strange feeling to be out of the school scene. I don't miss the homework, but I must admit that I sometimes long for the adult conversation while I am at home alone with Naomi.

For the long weekend we headed out to Hope with my parents and went camping. We had a great time. I was a little nervous about how she would sleep since she was not in her own crib, but thankfully she slept great. It must be all that fresh air. Here are a few pictures, I will try to get more from my dad soon.

Naomi is her new car seat with all of the camping stuff for the long weekend. We put Naomi in her new car seat for the trip so that we would have more room for all the camping gear. After we got home we decided to leave the car seat in the car for good. The portable travel system seat was getting WAY to heavy to carry. She weights over 18 lbs already and it was getting to hard to carry her and the seat.

Naomi hanging out in Oma and Opas trailer. It was such a treat to spend time in my parents trailer while we were camping. It gave Naomi a chance to lay down and stretch. While we were camping she started grabbing her feet, and now that is all she wants to do when I try to change her diaper.

Anniversary

Wow! Today is our Four year wedding anniversary! I can't believe that it has been four years already. So much has changed since that day when our two lives became one. I finished my BA, we bought a house, and welcomed our daughter into this world. My heart is filled with so many special memories of our lives together.
I am so thankful to God for giving me such a wonderful man to be my husband. I can say without a doubt that Ron is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I would marry him all over again if given the choice. He is my best friend, my partner, and the one that I want to grow old with. I love you Ron!
"To laugh often and much, to win
the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false
friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, or a garden patch... to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This
is to have succeeded!" - Emerson
