A Rough Week

This past week has been filled with adventures! Our dear girl got her first (and hopefully last) ride in an ambulance.
Last week she was playing in the living room while Treehouse was on in the background. She was standing in front of the TV and bend down really fast. She split her head open on the front edge of the wooden stand. Ron and I jumped up and when Naomi turned around crying there was blood pouring down the front of her face from a 2 inch wound in the middle of her forehead.
The paramedics soon arrived and we traveled to the hospital. Five and a half hours later we were back at home with 5 stitches in Naomi's forehead. (side note: I appreciate how hard the emergency nurses and doctors work, and we were well taken care of. My only issue was how long we had to wait to get her stitched up! Thankfully, the doctor did a tremendous job with the stitches, and hopefully she won't have a big scar)
It was the most difficult thing to watch my baby girl screaming and crying while they held her down to stitch her up. I tried to comfort her and reassure her that I was right beside her, but I don't think she could hear me over her screams. Awful feeling to be so helpless while your child is in pain. I would have eagerly taken her place.

Today we went to the doctor to have them removed and it seems to be healing well. We took this picture while we were waiting for the doctor to come.
To add to the drama Naomi managed to pick up the WORSE cold this past week. The poor thing coughs until she wakes herself up, and I think we are completely out of tissues!

Yikes, that is a tough week! Poor thing. We all have scars somewhere on our bodies from that time we did something that our parents could not have possibly prevented! I still cringe of the moments like this that happened while I was nannying!

Hopefully there won't be a scar. But that's sorta what life is about, right? We start out all blank-slate like, and experience makes us different. It's like tangible evidence that this is her life unfolding.

Um, I don't know why stitches on your gorgeous babe's forehead is making me so thoughtful. But there you have it!

haha :) I think I need to have a kid of my own so that I can stop waxing poetic on other mommy blogs! heheh

Ouch, that is not fun to see little ones in pain or bleeding. I am glad she is alright.

the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false
friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, or a garden patch... to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This
is to have succeeded!" - Emerson
